The creation of Casual Compute #0

It all started in November 2021, when I was supposed to be writing my senior thesis. I decided to procrastinate and create a website instead. Unfortunately, I tend to do go ahead with projects of this kind (setting up servers, random coding adventures, messing around with hardware) on a very regular basis, just as if it was a casual hobby. Hence the creation of Casual Compute!

This website is a passion project where I hope to combine a YouTube channel along with a series of blog posts. The videos will provide a fun and engaging way to discover a topic. While the blog will give an opportunity to take a deep dive into the topic. You should subscribe to the Casual Compute channel so that you don’t miss out on anything!

The inspiration came during a quick discussion right before recording a podcast. The next day instead of working on my thesis, which I was doing at the time, I put all this together:

  • Designed a logo
  • Bought a domain name
  • Paid for a VPS
  • Set up a WordPress server
  • Designed this website
  • Wrote this blog post

If you didn’t understand half the things I said in that list, don’t worry I’ll explain it in future posts. For now, I’m just happy that I made this all in less than a day! If you follow this blog, I can guarantee that one day you’ll be able to make one yourself too! You will also learn way more than just that!

Join me in the creation of Casual Compute! Subscribe to the YouTube channel and any other socials so you don’t miss out on anything.

Sharing is caring!
